Medication at school
The overall management of a child's health care needs rests with the parents and/or legal guardians. No medication can be administered to a student without written parental permission.
The following procedures must be followed:
Medication must be received at school in its original pharmacy packaging. This packaging must detail the prescribed dosage, time to be taken, as well as administration instructions. It must also be listed in the student's Individual Health Care Plan.
Short-term medication (such as antibiotics) must be sent to school in its original packaging. Please clearly outline in writing the prescribed dosage, as well as how and when to administer.
All medications sent to school must be handed from one adult (parent or carer) to another adult (driver or teacher). Please do not send medication to school in your child's school bag.
