Dear parents and carers,
I am looking forward to seeing you tomorrow at the annual Holroyd School educational showcase. From what I have seen at this week's dress rehearsals, I think you will be blown away by the confidence, talent and enthusiasm on display. I applaud our teachers and support staff too for their hard work and dedication to preparing our students and the stage for such a significant occasion.
Reflecting on this newsletter alone, the children have enjoyed an active term 3. We have celebrated a love of literature during Book Week; challenged ourselves with sporting and swimming programs; enjoyed an out-of-this-world incursion; and came to school in our pyjamas in support of a good cause.
Term 4 is now fast approaching. It represents the final step in the 13 year school journey for our graduating class. I hope our seven school leavers find their last term here at Holroyd School memorable and rewarding.
I hope everyone has the chance to rest and enjoy the company of loved ones during the Spring break. I look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday 9 October.
Until next time,
Mrs K Thorson
Dear parents and carers,
The P&C's Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held at 9.30am on Wednesday 1 November, 2023 in the Community Hub.
We need committee members to ensure that highly anticipated school and community events, such as the Tears and Tissues morning tea, Easter Parade, Mother's Day Stall, Father's Day Stall, sausage sizzle and end-of-year pizza day, can continue.
If you are interested in joining the committee, or nominating for the now vacant President, Secretary or Treasury positions, please email me at holroydschoolpc@gmail.com or contact the school office to receive a nomination form.
The P&C committee meets the first Wednesday of the month during school terms. We work collaboratively and share roles as it is only together that we can build a strong supportive environment for our children and staff members.
We also host representatives from the Community Migrant Resource Centre and NDIS in the Community Hub every Thursday during school terms; as well as a range of fun activities, such as Paint and Sip.
In closing, it was wonderful to see you at the recent Book Week parade. Didn't the students and teachers look great dressed as their favourite book characters?
See you all at the school concert and cake stall tomorrow. The children have been rehearsing for many weeks and I am sure you will be very impressed with the high level of talent on display.
Enjoy the holidays,
Liz Brannon

A highlight of our school calendar, it is wonderful to come together to watch all our classes perform after many weeks of preparation and rehearsal.
Tomorrow's two concerts will comprise 17 performances and presentations, which will include themes such as animals, colours, the alphabet and birthdays.
You can purchase a sweet treat before or after the show at the P&C cake stall outside the library. There will also be a jellbean guessing competition, with all proceeds funding an end-of-year student fun day.
There were superheroes, bumble bees, princesses, firemen ... even Mario and Luigi! Dressing up as our favourite book character concluded a fun week of Book Week celebrations recently.
This year's Book Week theme was Read, Grow, Inspire.
Students participated in various activities throughout the week in their classrooms, including reading a range of books, watching online telling of stories and creating clever artworks to showcase favourite tales.
Senior students journeyed through the solar system and came face-to-face with dinosaurs and volcanoes this term!
It was all thanks to Cosmodome, a mobile digital theatre and planetarium.
Many thanks also to our generous P&C for subsidising the cost of this fascinating incursion.
Our youngest learners certainly made a splash this term during our two-week water safety swim program.
Students have gained valuable confidence in the water and practised important, life-saving skills such as kicking, floating and paddling.
We are very proud of our students eager participation and wonderful progress in this fabulous program.
Five senior classes (S21, S22, S28, S29 and S30) travelled to Ryde on Tuesday, 15 August and tried their hand at a range of different sports skills.
The fun day was hosted by the children's charity, Variety.
John in J2 and his family walked 6km in the scorching heat last Saturday at Parramatta Park to raise funds and awareness for Gand Syndrome.
John is one of only 300 known cases worldwide of Gand Syndrome. The family's efforts raised some $1500 for vital research into this extremely rare neurological disorder.
You can learn more about Gand Syndrome here www.gatad2b.org
Thank you to Club Merrylands for its recent $14 838 Community Grant donation to Holroyd School. This generous grant will enable us to purchase important resources for our numeracy programs.
Pyjama Fun! And all for a good cause!
Holroyd School participated in Pyjama Day earlier this term and raised $443.40 for The Pyjama Foundation!
The Pyjama Foundation provides children in foster care the opportunity to change the direction of their lives with learning, life skills and confidence.
We love birthdays at Holroyd School! Here are some photo highlights of recent class parties.
