We will be holding the P&C's Annual General Meeting (AGM) at 9.30am on Wednesday November 2 in the Community Hub.
If you are interested in joining the committee, or nominating for the now vacant President, Secretary or Treasury positions, please contact the school office or email us at holroydschoolpc@gmail.com to receive a nomination form.
The P&C committee meets the first Wednesday of the month during school terms. The role of the P&C is to be the school's 'parent voice' and to support the school for the benefit of all students. Members of the P&C work together and share roles as it is only together that we can build a strong supportive environment for our children and staff members.
We have already had an enthsiastic response to our major raffle. There are some great prizes on offer, including a $500 Bunnings voucher, $450 family photo shoot with ten digital prints and $250 Westfield voucher.
The raffle will be drawn at our Care for Self Sausage Sizzle event in the Community Hub on October 20. Why not come along on the day and enjoy some lunch? You may even win a prize!
In closing, it was wonderful to see you all at the school concerts earlier this month. I am sure you were all as impressed as I was with the high level of talent on display.
See you at the AGM next month!

Here are some photo highlights from our recent educational showcase. It was wonderful to have teachers, parents, families and friends come together to watch all our classes perform.
A highlight of our school calendar, the two concerts comprised 19 performances, which included themes such as life on a farm, kindness, time and musical instruments.
The children's enthusiasm was infectious as parents and friends clapped and sang along to each tune.
It was a tremendous effort by all our teachers, staff and students and a culmination of many weeks of preparation and rehearsal.
Bravo to all!

We have had a very busy term preparing for the school concert and taking part in Book Week activities. We enjoyed being involved in these activities and had fun sharing them with our parents, friends and the school community.
A highlight has certainly been weekly music lessons with Adam from The Rhythm Village. We eagerly wait for him to sing and play the guitar, whilst learning about different music genres. We love playing with the many instruments and hearing the different sounds they make.
This love of music lessons inspired us to perform a music item for the school concert. We played instruments on stage to the song 'I am the music man'.
After such an eventful term, we are all looking forward to a well-deserved break.

What activities have the class enjoyed so far this year?
The students in J14 enjoy listening to songs on the interactive whiteboard and going for walks to the primary playground or senior quad. They also look forward to Friday swimming lessons. Saasha and Edison keep a close eye on the daily schedule and remind staff by pointing to the swimming PCS. Swimming keeps the students motivated and following PBL rules such as listening, being quiet and staying in your own space.
What curriculum-based learning activity is the class studying this semester?
This semester we are studying 'Personal Health Choices'. Students are learning about their personal identity, body, emotions and the many changes that have taken place since birth. Over the last few weeks we have learnt about personal safety, identifying warning signs and symbols and how to react to unsafe situations.
What are some other highlights of your class' weekly timetable?
Cooking, music and online puzzles are other activities that our students enjoy. Pranay, Aya and Sameehan like our regular cooking lessons and love to eat the food that they help to prepare. Each week we encourage all the students in the class to practise their cooking skills, such as mixing, stirring and cutting with assistance.
Edison and Sarramnra'a also love to solve online puzzles and can now complete a 25 piece puzzle independently.
How does the class spend time outdoors each week?
Our students are really enjoying the many new and varied outdoor activities in the middle playground.
Aya keeps herself busy walking up the stairs and sliding down the slippery dip; while Pranay and Mariam enjoy jumping on the trampoline. Brian runs around the playground and climbs on the outdoor equipment. Saasha spends her time on the swinging chair and Sarramnra'a plays with the musical equipment. While Edison rotates the wall-mounted puzzle; Sameehan enagages with the climbing wall and walks along the bridge.
In the classroom, S22 students have been working hard in english, maths, personal development and works skills.
Outdoors they have participated in a wide range of activities. Wheelchair sports was a highlight this term, with Michael, Mario, Abdulkarim and Obaid particularly enjoying the game of wheelchair tip.
Our class also enjoys walking around the senior quad, where we participate in sports such as bean bag throw, basketball and obstacle courses every Wednesday. It is wonderful to see all the students engaging in the sports program.
We also participated in the school concert this term and danced to Queen's 'Don't Stop Me Now'. Michael and Mario enjoyed playing the guitar, Abdulkarim and Obaid sang into the microphone, and Khoder danced with his friends in S23.
We have also regularly visited the Holroyd School Woolworths store. Michael, Vivek and Mario scan the items' barcodes and pack them into shopping bags. Abdulkarim, Obaid and Khoder enjoy choosing grocery items and placing them in their shopping basket.
Tomorrow (Friday 23 September) is the last day of Term 3, 2022.
Wishing all our staff, students and families a safe and happy Spring holiday.
Term 4 begins on Monday 10 October, 2022.
